CARING FOR YOUR JEWELLERY
Taking Care of Your Handmade Jewellery

At LumoBlue, we believe that your jewellery deserves the best care to ensure its lasting beauty. We want it to continue telling your unique story for years to come. Here are some simple yet effective tips to keep your jewellery looking its best:

General Care Recommendations:
-
Avoid Heavy Lifting and Harsh Activities:
-
We recommend removing any items of jewellery before engaging in heavy lifting, as it can minimise the risk of accidental damage or deformation.
-
Remember to take it off before hopping into a hot tub or going for a swim to prevent exposure to chlorine or other chemicals that may affect its appearance.
-
Keep it Away from Harsh Chemicals:
-
Avoid exposing your ring to harsh cleaning chemicals or solutions, as they can potentially harm the integrity of certain materials.
-
Minimise Contact with Lotions and Oils:
-
Apply lotions, oils, and perfumes before putting on your ring to prevent residue build-up, which can dull its shine over time.

Specific Metal Care:

Stainless Steel, Black Zirconium, Timascus, and Titanium:
-
Caring for these metals is a breeze. Begin by placing your ring in warm, soapy water (dishwashing soap works perfectly). Gently wipe it with a lint-free cloth until it's clean, and then dry it thoroughly with another clean cloth.
UV Pieces:
-
For rings with UV elements that contain resin, exercise extra caution to prevent scratches from sharp objects.
Damascus:
-
Damascus rings are easy to maintain. If a simple dishwasher soap solution doesn't do the trick, consider using a commercial cleaner along with a soft child's toothbrush to remove any stubborn grime.
Superconductor:
-
Please take a look at this blog post. We coat the ring in a protective layer that minimises the effects of a patina, but doesn't stop it completely. Over time, should you decide to restore its initial gleam, we offer reapplication services for the protective coating for £15. We also ask that you cover the postage costs to us and we cover the costs back.
Ashes and memorial jewellery:
To care for your silver jewellery containing cremation ashes, avoid exposure to
moisture, chemicals, lotions, perfumes and sunlight. Store it in a cool, dry place, clean it gently with a soft cloth, and handle it carefully to prevent damage when showering, bathing or any submergence in water.

Remember, your jewellery is unique. By following these care tips, you can help ensure that your handmade item continues to shine and remain a cherished part of your journey. If you have any specific questions or need further assistance, please don't hesitate to reach out to us
